Frieda Graf was a young woman from black forest who went in the 1930 to switzerland to learn housekeeping on a farm. Pregnant and alone, she was sent away, back to her small village. To bring up her son, a bastard, in a morally half-way acceptet manner, she married a bad-tempered widdower to survive.
Now FRIEDA GRAF is a brand that brings up Jorinde and Joringel, a product line that has the power to transform the taboo of sexuality into a souvereign representation of sensual erotic and fusion which doesn ́t exclude the deep and painful sides of human desires. With gentle humour and a touch of subversion it speaks clearly the innocent language of a loving couple: Jorinda and Joringel, named after Brother Grimms fairytale.
Charlotte Pohle is the grandchild of Frieda Graf and a young artist based in Westerwald and Neuwied, Germany. She approaches her biographical interest with artistic strategies: the dildos were formerly glaze tests she wanted to make out of clay. While she is focussing on her very own story, she discovers aspects that indicate an iconografic character. She researches, deconstructs and trusts these discoveries with melancholy, self-assertion and a wink. Her sensitive considered but often expressive use of material creates a communicative momentum and turns her personal experience into a universal matter.
