FRIEDA GRAF presents Jorinde and Joringel, a fairy-tale ensemble of ceramic dildo and fur bag. The Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name tells the story of a pair of lovers who get lost in the forest of a sorceress and are then transformed by her: Joringel into a stone, Jorinde into a nightingale. The red flower that Joringel dreams of is able to break the evil spell so that the lovers can be reunited.

The predominantly purple, blue and green glazes of the ceramics evoke associations with the dark thicket of the enchanted forest in which Jorinde and Joringel get lost. As dynamic painting, the colors combine with the free form, which as a phallus embodies the male part, in the fairy tale the petrified Joringel.

Jorinde, on the other hand, is staged as a tender and animal counterpart of the hard phallus. As infinitely soft fur bags with a silky-soft interior that you don't want to let go of again, the cases are of a receptive character – clearly representing a vulva, warm, soft – and untamed: fox and sheepskin embody the aspects of female wild nature.
